Political Whores and Their Quest for Continuance of Power. Case In Point: Harry Reid

March 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Commentary:     Some time ago I came across an article written by John W. Lillpop and I cross posted it here.  I like the way John writes.  We at the Arizona Resistance find John’s articles pertinent, poignant and precise.  We have been thrilled that John has been submitting articles to us for publication.  Quite a few of them have been accumulating here.  Since we think John’s topics and delivery make for such a good read, expect to see many articles here in the future from John W. Lillpop.  A great listing of John W. Lillpop articles can be found at Citizens for a Constitutional Republic.

It’s The VOTES, Stupid!

 By John W. Lillpop

In recent times, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has fouled the air on the floor of the U.S. Senate by calling a proposal to make English the official language “racist.”

“This amendment is racist. I think it’s directed basically to people who speak Spanish,” the Democrat said during the already tense debate over immigration reform.

However, Reid has not always been so tolerant of Hispanic newcomers.

In fact, in 1993 the unremarkable Harry Reid introduced the ‘Immigration Stabilization Act’ on the floor of the US Senate, and sounded downright intolerant of illegal aliens.

In 1993, illegal aliens were overwhelmingly Hispanic, just as is the case in 2008.

At the time of Reid’s impassioned rant in 1993, America was collapsing under the weight of 3.5 million illegal aliens.

The crisis motivated Reid to declare: “Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs.”

“Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes,” Reid continued.

Now, fast forward to 2006. The illegal alien crisis that ruined Reid’s sleep in 1993 has mushroomed as much as 10 fold, with 38 million illegal aliens now squatting in America.

And the need to prevent illegal immigration is far greater now than it was in 1993, given the events of 9/11 and the ongoing war on terror.

So why was Reid so gung-ho in 1993, but reduced to race-baiting obstruction in the far more dangerous environment of 2006?

It is the votes, stupid!

Harry Reid and the Democrats realize they can no longer win elections by appealing to real American citizens.

They now know that their only hope rests with pandering to 38 million illegal aliens, or “undocumented Democrats,” truth be told.

The liberal motto, then, is as follows: To hell with the best interests of America, the more important objective is having Democrats in power.

If calling a common sense amendment “racist” advances that objective, Reid and the loony left are more than happy to take those cheap political points to the bank–pronto!

The 545 People Responsible for the Crumbling of America

March 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Commentary:     Mr. Nelson Lee Walker forwarded this to me and I felt compelled to share it with all of you.

THE 545 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA’S WOES

BY CHARLEY REESE

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton- picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a SPEAKER, who stood up and criticized G.W. Bush ALONE for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.

Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE THE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can’t think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.

There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like ‘the economy,’ ‘inflation’ or ‘politics’ that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people and they alone, are responsible. They and they alone, have the power. They and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

The Arizona Resistance Blog is honored beyond belief to have been awarded an:

award.jpg

By none other than Katie’s Dad over at American Kernel.  KD was very kind to have included us in his list of ten excellent sites worthy of recognition.  We are even more impressed with the company we keep on KD’s list.  I am personally humbled.

In keeping with the rules pertaining to this award, I am pleased to submit my list of ten blogs that I rate as excellent.  In no particular order, they are:

The Nose On Your Face

Tenure Corrupts

Citizens For A Constitutional Republic

Taxation With Representation

Stop The North American Union

RidersUSA

This Aint Your Land

American Chaos

Hillbilly White Trash

A Skewed View

I also recommend KD’s list, as I frequent the sites he has listed as well.

The Arizona Resistance would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the lack of content these past few weeks.  Work has been very demanding and hasn’t left much time for blogging.  Just as well I suppose.  I was speaking to my friend Tim Rafferty a few weeks ago and we were discussing the deafening quiet of the movement this year.  He in his brilliant wisdom was quick to explain the fact that NO politician or PAC was at all interested in the topic in this election year and that there would be little action if any directed by federal legislatures.  He told me that this year is an opportunity to build and grow our movement and to educate those that have in the past been indifferent.

As work slows down this spring, I plan to heed Tim’s advice and do what I can to help in that regard.

The Arizona Resistance Sadly Acknowledges The Passing Of William F. Buckley

February 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Commentary:     It is with heart felt grief that we acknowledge the passing of one of the most brilliant and witty conservatives of modern time.  William F. Buckley was a gentleman and a scholar above all others.  He will be sadly missed.

The following piece taken from Citizens For A Constitutional Republic.

By John W. Lillpop

For years, William F. Buckley (WFB) was the most intelligent, witty, irreverent, funny, and entertaining political celebrity in America. His staunch conservatism, imposing vocabulary, and compelling presence earned him wide recognition as the “Father of the Modern Conservative Movement.”

Seen by liberals as an evil enemy, WFB took particular delight in repeatedly outwitting, outtalking, and out debating liberals on the national stage, including on his much acclaimed television show, “Firing Line.”

It is sad to report that WFB was silenced by the only force he could not outsmart, that being the grim reaper. Bill Buckley died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, on Wednesday, at age 82.

The cause of death has not yet been announced, but given the decline of America and the limited choices that Americans will have when voting for president in November, it may be that WFB’s passing is a precursor to the death of conservatism itself.

Who, after watching Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama battle for the honor of being the most socialist and anti-American candidate, would blame WFB for being repulsed by the leftward backsliding of modern politicians?

His repulsion was no doubt magnified exponentially when confronted by the sobering fact that the only “Republican Alternative” is a so-called conservative named McCain, who worships at the alter of global warming, bristles at the mere mention of rule of law, hates tax cuts, admits to being a nincompoop when it comes to matters of the economy, and thinks that the United States should support, rather than deport, every damn illegal alien who has successfully invaded our sovereign nation.

If conservatives and conservatism are indeed due for a decline in the near term, the good news is that the pendulum will most surely swing back to the right in the not too distant future.

After all, conservative principles as articulated by WFB offer the best hope for a strong and prosperous America.

When the time for the rebirth of conservatism arrives, the legacies of people like Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley will serve as beacon lights for “righting” the state of ship known as America.

God Bless William F. Buckley, a genuine American hero and icon in the conservative movement.

John W. Lillpop is a recovering liberal, “clean and sober” since 1992 when last he voted for a Democrat. Pray for John: He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where people like Nancy Pelosi are actually considered normal!
